Many people
mistakenly believe that if they just have the correct storage for their
closets, their organizing problems will be solved. Many clients have
beautiful custom closets and more plastic containers than you can imagine,
and they are still disorganized!
The client
who wants to truly become organized will invest the time up-front to look
into their closets and ask the hard questions and face the hard decisions.
For some, this is easy. For the disorganized, this is painful!
Organizing
is about making room in your life for that which is important.
It is NOT about creating a
tidy space, or arriving at perfection. It's good stewardship—knowing,
loving, using, and maintaining what you have. When you have an organized
closet, you have the confidence that you can find what you want when you
want it. This is peace of mind! Undergoing the process of closet
organizing brings tremendous freedom. Clients who are ready to let go, and
make room in their closet for what they love, will spend less time
searching and more time living.
When Restoring Order® is hired to organize a closet, we examine the client's taste, lifestyle,
colors, and size. We look at the same issues for anyone using the closet,
such as spouses. We then order the wardrobe around the client's needs. The
client's long-term satisfaction is maximized when they take the time to
plan, sort, purge, and categorize the contents.
Closet organizing is not just
about storing your clothing and accessories, it is about making decisions
and practicing self-observation. The closet is an intimate space. In it,
we store our memories, hang our good intentions, stow our beliefs, and
catalogue our image. The savvy client will be ready to ask themselves WHY
they are keeping certain items, and make decisions about the value of
those items. It's o.k. to keep items with fond memories attached, or items
in the size we wish we wore. The problem occurs when we have kept so many
of these items that we no longer have room for the things we do wear and
enjoy. That's when Restoring Order® can establish a process for the
closet organizing project, help the client plow through difficult
decisions, keep the momentum going, and assist in prioritizing. The client
and organizer partner together to "restore order" to the closet in
question.
Having someone by your side,
who is taking you through a process, is an invaluable asset. For many, it
means the difference between whether the project gets done or not, and if
backsliding later occurs. If you have attempted to organize your closet in
the past, but have had disappointing results, it may be indicative of a
flawed process or difficulty making decisions. Successful closet
organizing relies on effective process and correct product. Restoring
Order® is also an expert in storage! We can assist with storage
options for closets, customizing systems and containers to the client's
needs and tastes. If you are ready to "reclaim your closet," contact
Restoring Order® today!
